Russia is one of the largest countries in the world. It occupies a big part of dry land. The country is known as a Legend Empire, because it has been suffering from foreign invasion and dominance by outsiders from times immemorial, but still strong and alive.

The country divided by Ural mountain range in two big parts is full of controversies. People who live close to Europe are not the same with Russians from the other side of the Ural. Russia is rich in such natural treasures as coal, oil, nickel, copper, natural gas and even diamonds. The oversize of the territory determines a big variety of climates: from arctic to subtropical one. In the centre of the country there is a temperate climate. One of the main sources of pride in Russia is unique nature from East to West. The country is rich in numerous lakes, rivers and woods.

Everybody knows that USA is called “a melting pot of cultures” thanks to its history and national background. This is also true about Russia, because its population consists of many nationalities: Slavs, Tatars, Chuvash, etc. This mix makes the country unique and unusual.

The head of the state is a president who is usually elected every 6 years. The capital of the country is Moscow with population of about 10 million people and it increases every day. This city is like a miniature copy of the whole country.

There are many stereotypes about Russian people and their country. Most of Americans and Europeans suppose that every Russian family lives in severe Siberia, drinks vodka every day, plays balalaika and has its own brown bear instead of a dog. Actually, Russia is a big political, scientific, cultural and industrial centre now and all these stereotypes are no more than fairytales.

I’d like to start my composition with the words that Russia is a really great country. It is proved 1 by the history of it, its power in the modern world. The history of Russia dates back to the 9-th century when Kiev, Vladimir and Novgorod were united with and formed an ancient Russia. In 988 it became a powerful Christian country. It was ruled by Tsar many years, but in 1917 after the revolution it bacame a communist country. Many countries were united together and it was named the USSR. But in 1991 this great country was broken up. There were a lot of historic events in the past, many wars which had ruined Russia but it was rebuilt again.

Its total area 2 is about 17 million square kilometers and it is no doubt that Russia is one of the largest countries in the world. It occupies 3 the eastern part of Europe and the northern part of Asia. Can you imagine that it is washed by 4 twelve seas and three oceans. Among them are the Pacific Ocean, the Arctic Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. The Barents Sea, the White Sea, the Black Sea, the Okhotsk Sea, the Baltic Sea and others wash the country too. Russia boders on 5 Belarus, Ukraine, the Baltic States in the west, on Mongolia, China in the east, on Norway and Finland in the north-west. It has a sea border 6 with the USA.

The full name of the country is the Russian Federation. The capital is Mosсow. This city is densely populated 7 . More than 10 million people live there.

There are many rivers, lakes in this country. The longest river not only in Russia but in Europe is Volga . The Ob, the Lena and the Yenisei are the longest rivers in Asia. The deepest and purest lake on the earth is Baikal.

I love my Homeland. My relatives, friends and colleagues live here too, I also love them. All the inhabitants of my Homeland understand Russian, so they can communicate without any problems.

Russia is unique country. Our country is well known around the world with its enormous territory, various and beautiful landscapes. In addition we have great history and cultural heritage. From generation to generation stories of great event and personalities are told. So thinking of native land we think about modern and former heroes: artists, musicians, writers and poets. I love my Russia and I proud with its endless fields, fertile forests, seas, rivers, lakes, cities and villages.

I could never leave my country. I was born here, same raised here so it became part of my life. I’m very glad to live in peaceful time. It is the opportunity to visit great school to get education, do my favorite things and stay close to my family and friends. Because homeland is not only land it’s also people that surround us in daily life. It’s bigger than one can imagine.

Deep knowledge about my country is my priority. I know it takes lots of efforts and there will be many difficulties but I’m confident about myself. As they say man is happy knowing his destination, where his should follow and how make his dreams into real. I will decorate my life with dreams having bright future ahead. And I’m really glad to live in Russia.

Я люблю свою Россию и горжусь её бескрайними полями, пышными лесами, морями, реками, озёрами, городами и сёлами.

Я не смогу оставить свою страну. Я родился здесь, здесь рос, так что она теперь часть моей жизни. Очень хорошо жить в мирное время. Только так я могу ходить в чудесную школу и получать образование, заниматься любимыми делами и быть рядом с семьёй и друзьями. Потому что родина - это не только земля, это ещё и люди, которые нас окружают. Она больше чем можно подумать.

It’s believed that the place where we were born is significantly important for us. First of all, we are greatly influenced by people around us and we are formed by moral and cultural values existing in a particular country. Moreover, we reflect the history of our nation and experience gained through the centuries. So, I can say that “motherland” is not only the word, but it’s in fact who we are.

As for me, I was born in Russia and I’m absolutely convinced that it’s the best place for living. To start with, Russia is the largest country in the world. It is famous for its natural sources such as oil and gas as well as its cultural inheritance for the reason that Russian music, art and literature are well-known all over the world. Thus, the masterpieces of Pushkin, Chekhov, Repin, Malevich and Tchaikovsky have charmed millions of people in different parts of our planet.

However, Russia is also quite a multinational country, though all nations have a common history. In spite of the fact that the country is divided into federal republics and autonomous regions and areas, they are all united by common goals and ideology that leads to peaceful coexistence and productive collaboration of so different parts of our diverse country.

Furthermore, Russian nature dramatically varies too. One can find everything imaginable here. From enormous endless fields and forests with their unique beauty of flowers and trees to fascinating mountains, pure lakes and rivers. Here we can also see one of the symbols of our country, birch. Unity with nature brings us internal balance and energy.
Thus, I can say that I’m really proud of my country, of its history and culture. I like travelling and visiting other countries, understanding other cultures, but there is no such amazing and diverse country as Russia which is so comfortable to live in.
