Bulk carrier Mikhail Kutuzov. "Mikhail Kutuzov" and his crew

When the personnel department of the shipping company found out that I was going to visit the Kutuzov, the employees of the service, writing out documents for a pass, said: “Oh, write about them, they are so great, we never have problems with them!”

In January, the ship "Mikhail Kutuzov" came to the home port of Murmansk. He had only a couple of days to stay in his native port. The bulk carrier was moored at the 18th berth for loading apatite, the ship was going to keep on its way to the Norwegian port of Heroy.

The motor ship "Mikhail Kutuzov", built in Germany, was modernized in 2004 - an additional hold was installed on it, thanks to which the vessel's carrying capacity increased by three thousand tons.

The second contract on the vessel is led by the crew of Sergei Mikhailov. This is his second voyage as captain. Despite his relatively young age (he will turn 36 this year), Sergey Vladimirovich has a good practice behind him. He comes from the Tula region, from the family of a sailor. Just like his father graduated from Makarovka. In his youth, he lived with his family in Klaipeda, where his father was sent after studies by distribution. He has been working in the shipping company for 12 years and during this time he worked on dry cargo ships "Kola", "Kolguev". The penultimate place of work was on the new bulk carrier "Pomorie".

I did not expect the ship to be in such good condition, - the captain honestly admits. - After modernization, insertion of an additional hold, the seaworthiness of the ship improved, storming and handling improved, side keels were welded on, and now in a storm we have a completely different ship.

What can you say about your team? - I ask questions to Sergey Mikhailov. - How did you join the team?

Relations immediately developed good, people work here openly, and most importantly, professionals in their field. I can’t say that there are no problems at all, but we solve all controversial issues together. The main thing is that if you need to work overtime, for example, when you need to urgently prepare a hold to receive another cargo, no one whines that working hours are over. If necessary, sailors work day and night.

Captain Mikhailov has complete mutual understanding with the engine crew - they do a common job according to all the rules. The mechanics are led by Nikolai Tylychkov - the "grandfather" of the ship. Nikolai Stepanovich has been working in the shipping company since 1968. He started on the old "Donskoy" type "Dzhankoy", worked on the "Emelyan Pugachev", on the diesel-electric ship "Ob", on the ships "Captain Panfilov" and "Grumant". He admits that he did not like to move from ship to ship. His relocation, one might say, was a necessary measure: the personnel department “sent” an excellent specialist to where help was needed to troubleshoot. You still need to look for specialists of his profile in the fleet - he personally wrote instructions for mechanics at the request of the management. He calls himself a mechanical all-rounder.

Nikolai Tylychkov is from the Kirovograd region, in Ukraine. He studied at the Odessa seafarer. In fact, as he now recalls, he did not dream of sea romance. He came to Odessa to enter an automotive technical school - from childhood he was well versed in mechanisms, but, having learned how many exams he had to pass, he changed his choice in favor of a marine specialty. He took his first practice in the Black Sea Fleet, then the senior mechanic of all the trainees immediately enrolled young Nikolai in the staff of the crew team. Before the war, it was a private passenger ship, and the Spaniard, the former owner of the ship, worked as a captain. He spoke Russian with difficulty, but he learned well a couple of strong swear words that he often used when giving orders to sailors.

As Nikolai Stepanovich said, at that time there were several Spanish ships in the fleet, which came to the Black Sea in the 30s of the last century. 5 passenger liners arrived in the Soviet Union from Spain fighting fascism, and for many of them our country later became a second homeland. On board the ships brought children and women, thereby saving them from death. Subsequently, these ships were included in the Black Sea Fleet, since their return home was then dangerous. During the Great Patriotic War, they were re-equipped, and they delivered food, weapons and ammunition to the besieged Sevastopol, and evacuated the wounded.

Having received an education, the cadet Tylychkov was sent to the North by distribution. And with him went the young wife.

Do you remember your first impressions when you arrived in the North? - I'm interested in my interlocutor.

So, we are going to Murmansk by train, - says Nikolai Stepanovich, - in the compartment we met a Murmansk resident, talked a little with him, and when we drive up to the city, he asks: “Does anyone meet you guys?” “No, no one meets us,” we answer in unison, “let’s go to the hotel.” "What hotel? - the fellow traveler exclaims (then, apart from the “cockroach” wooden “Arctic” and “North”, which was impossible to get into, there were no more hotels). “If my wife meets me now, we will go to us.” And so we left our only suitcase at the station in the storage room and went home to a new acquaintance along the "eight" to the hills, this is where "mother-in-law's tongue" (the road, the serpentine from Chelyuskintsev Street upwards, so, jokingly, the residents called that area. - I.Yu.). We were washed, fed and put to bed. And in the morning we wake up - there is no one at home, and there is a note on the table: "Guys, you will leave, please close the door." We were instantly blown away as if by the wind: the apartment is all well furnished, and we are two tramps, I am in a cadet uniform and it is slightly covered. To imagine such a situation in Odessa is simply unacceptable! This was Murmansk, these were the people of Murmansk!

Later, the family did not live long in an old house for demolition, the first-born was born - they gave an apartment in a communal apartment. Three families lived here, cheerfully and amicably. Three sons were born in the Tylychkov family, two of whom followed in their father's footsteps. So, almost the Tylychkov dynasty of sailors is already working in the Murmansk Shipping Company. A few years ago, Nikolai Stepanovich went to live in Velikie Luki, but he practically lives in two houses: he comes from a flight, here is an apartment, two sons, grandchildren, and there - a wife and another son with his children. And here are friends with whom I went to sea together, worked in the shipping company all my life. True, now they rarely see each other:

Just recently I saw Borya Khlebnikov, we talked, it was very nice to meet, - Nikolai Tylychkov recalls and quietly adds: - I went to the cemetery here, and there are so many of them ... and all my friends. Unfortunately, the human age is very short.

Why did you move to Velikie Luki? - I'm curious. - Do you have relatives there?

No, in recent years, my wife did not feel well, but we just came there to stay, with our grandchildren and children, - says Nikolai Tylychkov. - And ours came to life. Children shout to her: “Mom, sit down, rest!”. And she answered: “But I’m not tired!”. It was beyond my desires and hopes. What else do I need when my wife feels so good? Nothing. After all, we have been together all our lives, got married in 1965, lived nearby, she is on the left bank of the Southern Bug, and I am on the right. They met by chance and got to know each other, and so they lived side by side for 45 years. I have been at sea all my life, there have been long flights to the Arctic, I tried to work on the shore - it didn’t work out, but she, although it was hard alone, waited.

Are you bored?

I miss you, of course, - and then he adds, - yes, we constantly communicate via Skype.

And what, they mastered it, it’s not difficult for me, but she has a granddaughter there at her side. And yes, it is so convenient! We communicate via the Internet with children in the fall, and the daughter-in-law asks: “Dad, did you have good apples this year?” And I took it and brought it to the monitor, barely held three pieces with both hands: “Here, look.” And the little granddaughter saw on the other side, on the “box”, and shouts: “Grandfather, give it, give it!”. The son answered me: “Dad, don’t tease your grandson!” This is how we live!

The Pravda Severa newspaper reports pravdasevera.ru that the ship "Mikhail Kutuzov" went from Arkhangelsk to China for scrap metal, lumber was "cargo".

It would seem - an ordinary event: every day at the mouth of the Northern Dvina, up to a dozen sea transports come and go from here. However, the sailors of the bulk carrier consider the voyage special. First, "Mikhail Kutuzov" will go to the Far East along the Northern Sea Route, and not along Europe, around Africa, crossing the Indian Ocean. Secondly, the ship, built in still democratic Germany, which has worked at sea for 38 years, will be sent to scrap metal at the end of the voyage in the same place in China.

Bulker "Dmitry Pozharsky"

Bulk carriers of the Murmansk Shipping Company "Mikhail Kutuzov" and "Dmitry Pozharsky" for the first time as part of a caravan set off on a voyage along the Northern Sea Route. According to the press service of OJSC "Murmansk Commercial Sea Port", the ships will deliver the cargo of iron ore concentrate from Murmansk to the port of Jintang (China).

The total distance from Murmansk to the ports of northern China through the Northern Sea Route is 6.9 thousand miles. Dry-cargo ships of the Arctic class "Mikhail Kutuzov" and "Dmitry Pozharsky" with a deadweight of 23 thousand tons each, accompanied by the nuclear-powered icebreaker "Vaigach" will pass without stops through the waters of the Arctic Ocean, through the Bering Strait along the borders of Russia, Japan and South Korea. Ice assistance will be carried out from the Kara Gate Strait to Wrangel Island and will be about 2 thousand miles. The estimated time of arrival at the port of discharge is the first decade of August.

The recipients of a cargo of iron ore concentrate weighing 44 thousand tons produced by Kovdorsky GOK are large metallurgical enterprises in the northeast of China, the value of the cargo is about $8 million. port of Murmansk up to 3 million tons. Relevant strategic agreements have been reached between Eurochem, Murmansk Commercial Sea Port, Murmansk Shipping Company and FSUE Atomflot.

“I am very grateful to all the participants of the project. Everyone will get a job: the Kovdorsky GOK plant, the railway, the port, the shipping company and Atomflot, - the words of the General Director of FSUE Atomflot Vyacheslav Ruksha are quoted in the message, - The conclusion of a long-term agreement between these companies would make it possible to build several ice-class vessels specifically for navigation along the NSR and in 3-5 years to get away from subsidies. It is possible that, by analogy with the Panamax and Suezmax class ships, Arcticmaxes will soon appear.
OJSC "Murmansk Shipping Company" specializes in the sea transportation of general cargo and passengers by its own fleet, the fleet of subsidiaries and attracted (chartered) fleet. The fleet of the shipping holding includes more than 300 vessels with a total deadweight of about 2 million tons. The main shareholders of MMP are Arctic Technologies LLC (62.7%) and the state.

There is an opinion that Russia is a maritime power. It is fitting for a maritime power to preserve traditions, have memorable places and keep ships with a historical past, and, as an example and as it is practiced, as museums or training ships.

With museum ships, we, frankly, are rather weak. There are only 11 of them, including mock-ups. Plus 7 more submarines. Weak, to be honest, for such a huge country. We need more, because where else, if not on such a museum ship, to raise the interest of the boys in the fleet?

We will talk about the events that have been unfolding recently around the ship of military glory, the cruiser Mikhail Kutuzov. The cruiser, if someone does not know, is in Novorossiysk, in the seaport. And it is a museum ship and the property of the fleet at the same time.

The cruiser "Mikhail Kutuzov" became the twelfth ship of the project 68-bis. It was laid down in February 1951 at the Nikolaev Shipyard and launched on August 9, 1954. After passing a series of tests, the ship was commissioned into the Black Sea Fleet. His area of responsibility was the Mediterranean and Black Seas, as well as the central Atlantic, where Mikhail Kutuzov served until being withdrawn from service in 1998. By this point, the ship had traveled 211,900 miles.

"Mikhail Kutuzov", being a very beautiful and imposing ship, made himself, in addition to the military, also a political career and became a meeting place at the highest level. Over the years, his guests were Indonesian President Sukarno, Egyptian leader Abdel Nasser, Ethiopian King Haile Selassie I, the Shah of Iran and his wife, and other powers that be.

Officially, "Mikhail Kutuzov" participated in two armed conflicts during the Arab-Israeli war, in 1967 and 1973. Both times he was in the port of Alexandria as the command post of the chief military adviser of the USSR in Egypt. The cruiser did not take direct part in the hostilities, but the very fact of its presence in Alexandria was a guarantor of peace.

An attack on Mikhail Kutuzov would be tantamount to an attack directly on the USSR. This is partly why the raid on the Alexandrian port was avoided.

Today "Mikhail Kutuzov" is a museum ship. There are guided tours around the cruiser, but it is precisely over the museum ship that something is gathering. Whether the clouds, or the light at the end of the tunnel.

The idea is that the cruiser is obliged to return to Sevastopol, from where it was taken away in 2001, when the lease on our base expired. There were serious fears that the ship would go under cutting for metal. So, in fact, "Kutuzov" ended up in Novorossiysk. And it has become a museum.

Today, a fairly large initiative group, which includes such famous people as admirals V.N. Chernavin, I.V. Kasatonov, Rear Admiral E.A. Kobtsev, Rear Admiral A.I. Aladkin, Admiral V.A. Kravchenko, Vice Admiral V.D. Ryazantsev, Rear Admiral A.P. Grinkevich, Rear Admiral V. Uryvsky, Vice Admiral R.A. Votes, stands up for the return of the cruiser back to Sevastopol.

The motivation is simple: the cruiser is obliged to return back to the hero city of Sevastopol in order to become part of the historical heritage there. Opinions and arguments are expressed differently, some in the performance of Sevastopol are even unpleasant to read, such as, for example, Stefanovsky.

I will note in defiance of Stefanovsky that Novorossiysk is the same hero city as Sevastopol. And the same city of military glory. That's just it was not handed over to the Great Patriotic War. And the blood of those who defended Novorossiysk was no different from the blood of the defenders and liberators of Sevastopol. And this city is no less worthy to have its own ship-museum.

But back to "Mikhail Kutuzov", especially since just a week ago I visited it as a sightseer.

Of course, I wanted to make a more detailed review of the ship, with all the details, but the museum's management did not want to meet us halfway. And she offered to break through permission through the leadership of the Navy in St. Petersburg. So we simply did not have time, which, perhaps, is for the best. Having visited the ship on a general basis, it is easier to draw some conclusions.

What conclusions did we draw? And not very good ones.

The cruiser is far from being in perfect condition. Yes, the guides talk about the shortcomings of finance, but who doesn't talk about it today? But the ship definitely needs a good repair. The rust on the decks and the frankly worn-out wooden covering are also surprising.

The very tour of the ship in the style of "gallop through Europe." No complaints about the guides, they are all people who are unambiguously in love with the ship and know it and the marine theme. But is it really impossible to make a larger excursion, albeit for a lot of money?

Upper deck with an overview of artillery, ship's bell, mine armament. Then a lecture in the ship's wardroom (very interesting, by the way) and a run (no other words) through some of the interior rooms. A galley, a cockpit, a first-aid post, one of the combat posts and a cockpit for domestic needs. Everybody. Honestly, less than a little. Such a huge ship, you could drive on it for two hours, and it would be interesting. And so - a half-hour run.

The situation with Kutuzov reminded me of many museums in our country. Where there are models of tanks with welded hatches, and guides lead people around and broadcast something there. The last century, in short. Merging with the ship did not work out, unfortunately.

There was a lot of joy for the boys who were given to turn the control wheels of the 37-mm air defense installation. For more sophisticated people - only surprise.

What could be the future of the cruiser?

You can continue to play the role of one of the few attractions of Novorossiysk. Until complete decay and final write-off. I can’t say for how many years “Mikhail Kutuzov” will last, but sooner or later the end will come anyway. The sea is not a concrete pedestal after all.

You can make a major overhaul of the ship. But this is definitely not in Novorossiysk. Local shipyards are unable to service this ship. So Marine Plant or something like that. In Crimea. And there it’s a little closer to Sevastopol than back to Novorossiysk ...

In addition, in Sevastopol there is the Black Sea Higher Naval Order of the Red Star School named after PS Nakhimov, and a branch of the Nakhimov Naval School. It is unlikely that a training ship like the Mikhail Kutuzov would have interfered with the cadets and Nakhimov. In the event that he undergoes a major overhaul and will again be able to make trips, if not to the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, but at least along the Black Sea.

And, by the way, there will be no problems with leaving the ship.

And on weekends, the ship may well stand somewhere in the roadstead and work as a museum. Like a real ship, not a model with access to single rooms.

In any case, this is a good continuation of the cruiser's life.

In addition, the name of Field Marshal Kutuzov is not alien to Crimea. Mikhail Illarionovich fought in those places together with Suvorov, and fought well.

And what about Novorossiysk?

And Novorossiysk definitely needs to allocate something in return. The city is not rich in such significant monuments, so just taking “Mikhail Kutuzov” out of there is, to put it mildly, ugly.

Perhaps "Kerch" is quite suitable.

On November 4, 2014, a fire broke out at the Kerch BOD, damaging a number of aft compartments. According to the results of the work of the commission investigating the incident, a decision was made to write off and dispose of the ship in 2015. Later, the disposal of the BOD "Kerch" was temporarily postponed with its transfer to the reserve as a training ship for the seafarers and the floating headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet. In July 2015, official information appeared about the repeated revision of the ship in order to resolve the issue of its restoration.

The ship is patronized by: the South-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow, the administration of Belgorod and the administration of the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd. On August 18, 2015, by the decision of the Chief of the General Staff, the Kerch BOD was withdrawn from the combat strength of the Black Sea Fleet and placed in the category of military property, with the subsequent location of the military museum of the Black Sea Fleet in it.

Why can't the Black Sea Fleet museum stay in Novorossiysk? In addition, the Kerch is much younger than the Kutuzov, and with such support, the ship will clearly be able to please visitors from among the residents of Novorossiysk and guests of the city for a long time to come, if the process is properly organized, and not as it is now on the Kutuzov.

The issue is that the Kutuzov translation project also has opponents. The whole question is who will prevail in the battle for the cruiser.

In any case, something needs to change. Of course, I would like the cruiser to be repaired and still serve. What a museum, what a training ship. But in any case, not the way things are set up in Novorossiysk today.
